2.5 AS/35's with 4.6

Guy's wanting to mod the STX some, but have some concerns. If I get a AS 2.5 and 285-70-17's on stock wheels are the tires gonna look small, I notice most guy's go with 35's. I'm concerned the 35's will bog down my mileage, and work the smaller 4.6 engine.
Will the 285-70-17's fit without the leveling kit and look alright? Seems like most people have the bigger engine and 35's.

The 285's will look fine. You are right, 35's will affect your performance more.

They will look fine with or without the AS leveling kit. Whether or not you have any rubbing will depend on the wheel you use. You may have some minor rubbing if you went with a wide wheel with really shallow backspacing. I'd go with a 9 inch wide wheel with 5 to 6 inches of backspacing.

ok me and MT are you people for lifted 4.6's. as far as i know its just us on the site.

you WILL lose power, it wont be terrible but it wont be great. i would recommend a programer from VMP (400 bucks) and you will be happy with your truck.
gas mileage wise, i get 11-14 city, depending on driving habits. right now im getting probly about 8mph but im on campus and its stop and go and i have a heavy foot. on interstate im gettin 15 going 80mph and 18 going 64-65mph. any other questions just ask or PM me or MT

I agree with Wandell, the 285's will look great. Leveled out maybe a 295x70x17." Assuming it's a 04-08 truck." Also a programmer will help!

Paw Paw it's a 07 stx 4x4 supercab. So it should be ok. What size is the 295 equal out to? Where do I get the VMP tuner?

A 295/70-17 is basically a 34x12.00-17 tire.

check out the new 285/75r17 Nitto terra grappler. Its a 34x11.5r17 and would probably be perfect. I have the older body style with the 4.6L and it actually does ok...I do want 4.10's but its not totally necessary. The 295/70r17 is sopposed to be a 34" tire, but it is really only 33.2" tall.
