its my understanding 4.88's are the biggest you can fit in the 9.75 rear end. I highly doubt your rpms will be anywhere near the same, I can tell you that for a fact. at 70mph im running around 2200 rpm and sucking down gas like nobodies business with just 37's.

A gear is a component within a transmission device that transmits rotational force to another gear or device. A gear is different from a pulley in that a gear is a round wheel which has linkages ("teeth" or "cogs") that mesh with other gear teeth, allowing force to be fully transferred without slippage. Depending on their construction and arrangement, geared devices can transmit forces at different speeds, torques, or in a different direction, from the power source.

Gear Ratio Calculator

Play around with the numbers and figure out what you would need.

FX4life, if you were running 40's and 4.88's you would be close to stock RPM's. Or would be closer to stock (for 3.73's) if you were running 4:30's with 37's.

IMHO, if I were going to be running 37's+ I would want a bit more gear that what 3.73's offer in a stock setup.
