04-05 vs. 06 up rear suspension differences?????

What is the difference between the 04-05 suspension and the 06-up suspension. I have noticed that my 08 F150 doesnt sit as high as my 05 did. I have even read on this site where others have noticed the same thing. I have yet to figure out the difference. Could it be the blocks are different? Maybe the leaf springs have more leafs on the older models????

Any body know the difference?

there is a difference.......just dont know what it is. the back of my truck squats more than my 05 did when loaded down so i think it might have someething to do with spring rate but not sure.

figured it out.......the 04-05's had another leaf in the spring pack which made the rear stiffer and it sat higher...approx 1/2 an inch higher. 06-08 did not and that is why they sit lower in the rear and have softer rear suspension.

Ford has 3 different capacities they use for their leaf springs, 1500, 1700 and 1900 per side. Even the newer 3 leaf has these capacities but your older model may have had 1900 and your newer one has 1500 which makes a pretty big difference as far as ride quality and height even though these springs have different arches to attempt to compensate for the extra capacity.

My dad has a 05 FX4 with the same leveling kit I have and his sits dead level. Mine has a slight squat. I have had a AAL in my garage for a year now just afraid of it having a rake once installed.

This is why the general opinion is for an 04-05 a 2.5" leveling kit works best and a 2" for the 06-08s.
