bad shaking in suspension

Hey guys, the trucks a 2000 f150 2wd long bed and I took it for some mild offroadin yesturday and on the way home I realized how bad the steering wheel was shaking. I thought maybe i knocked off a balance weight on a rim but I checked all of em and thats not it. The truck still drives completly straigh when I let go of the wheel it's just shaking pretty bad when I get over 50 mph. any input appreciated, thanks

Bunch of things could lead to this... for you you described I'd say you damaged something in the front end that needs to be adjusted/replaced.

It could also be something as stupid as a rock stuck somewhere believe it or not.

Also, if you think its coming from the rear-end, it could be your e-brake partially engaged. Other than that, I'd get under her and just take a good look/feel around and see if theres anything you notice. If not, then have a mechanic look into it.

i also thought it could be the u joints making the driveshaft spin off balance but it feels like it coming from the front end since its shaking mainly in the steering. thanks for the input I'll get under the truck and check things out when i get the chance.

Steering wheel shake after off-roading???....check the inside of the front wheels-there may be caked mudd on the inside of your rims causing a shake/vibration. If not, I would make sure the wheels are balanced -(maybe a wheeel weight flew off during the offroad session), if ok, then look at steering components. Best of luck, Keeks.
