2001 F150 KR front shock install

I just installed a pair of Gariel Heavy Duty front shocks on my 01 KR.
Everything went well but after letting the truck down off the jacks there is about a 1/4 in space between the top rubber spacer and the upper shock mount. I have tightened the top nut to the stops (holding the top to keep the rod from spinning) and it still has the gaps and I can wiggle the shock around in the top mount.
Any ideas?

Did the new shocks come with new bushings? You may have to combine them with the old bushings.

Yeah they came with new bushings and i hope i don't need the old as I tossed them and the garbage pickup was today.
It embarassing but since i had the truck on jacks and tire's off for rotation it all looked good until it sat overnight with the weight of the truck and that's when i noticed it.
Also interesting that the new shocks top mounting stud is not the same size as the hole it fits through (smaller) thus allowing the shock to wiggle back and forth. I can actually wiggle the shock back and forth with my hands.

any pics?

you might have to put a stack of washers down on the shock stud before you run the nut down.

is it possible you ordered shocks for the 7700# f150?
