Lifting 6"... DIY?
its not hard putting your lift on, for my rancho they quoted me 800 bucks to 1200 bucks and some shops refused to install it. they said it was a liability issue, more like they didnt get to screw me on the lift so they wont install the one i bring in. it can be done in a day easy with all the right tools. i had a "super duty spring compressor to change my coils over and that was a joke, i stripped a good inch of threads of them trying to compress the coils, i'd recommend taking those in. just make sure you loctite everything! i lost a caliper mounting bracket bolt about 250 miles after the lift install. blue loctite on everything and make sure you torque EVERYTHING to spec. just plan out your attack get a good night sleep and you should be good to go. i laid everything out and labeled it P or D and put the bolts in ziploc bags and labeled them just to be sure. i also printed out each picture off my rancho install instructions and blew it up, picture is worth a thousand words. i'm not sure about other kits, but the rancho is retard-proof, every bracket/bag of bolts has a part number on it, even the subframe has one
but if you have any doubt in your mind after reading the instructions or dont feel safe in something that you reassembled, well then i'd take it in. when i could figure out how to get the damn upper diff bolt out i was so pissed i was ready to leave it stock, then a few phone calls and out she came. i just like knowing that if i break it, i know i can fix it again alot easier than not having a clue where stuff goes under there. also if you install it yourself, you can save some $$$ regearing, well the labor part in the front anyway.
