By spacer i mean above the bottom knuckle or rod end there is a spacer that goes up to the retainer bottom plate for the spring (i wish i could show a picture but i do not have one.) this seems to be not long enough, but by all measurments they are correct. No aftermarket lift and they are the correct shocks for the application i am not in an area to be able to just run them down to a shop. I contacted king shocks and the measurements are to spec they are also confused "i think" p.s. They are a extreem help on this though!! I just can not figure it out. Shaft measures 3.5" overall shock length is 23" top plate tp middle rod eye. If i put in a longer shaft spacer what will that do to my spring?? Can it even work??

Can you please get a picture of it? I don't think any of us have any idea what's wrong. I had a problem with my Kings but it wasn't something wrong with them. Just step back and figure out how to make it work or what you're doing wrong. If they are the right shocks than it's something you're doing wrong. Trust me, we've all been there, but post up a picture and I can help you.

So the problem is that the coilover isn't long enough to fit into the lower control arm shock mount? If that's the case are you using a jack to lift the lower control arm while the truck is on jackstands.

Yes the shock is long enough no problem there. It is the circumference of the coil and retaniner plate. It is hitting the axle shaft. But everyone, king and others who have it installed on theres says its ok. My spring diamiter is same 3" 16600. I will post pictures tuesday. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Or 2100 in this case.

I was going to suggest the exact same thing. Looks like that's not the problem though.....

Sorry man, I don't get it.

Davespeed your the man, thats what i needed i have been everywhere trying to find that. Ok at the bottom where the coil sits on the retainer plate it rubs against the axle as in picture #1,my bottom spacer after the rodeye piece is 3.5" which is spec for new from king. Thats why i thought if i got a larger spacer it would rise the coil up and out of the way! But why mine is different is puzzling,i bought the truck new never wrecked or tweaked! I am seeing in the picture it is also very close to rubbing. I will try again thanx everyone for your help!!

I get it. You are saying that the coils are wider, so they are rubbing against the CV joints. That is strange. You absolutely sure you have the right ones?

Yep, i have measured and called and measured now you see my delema. Absolutily correct spec of spring size is :3" /16600/13" long. I dont know what else to say i will try again but may soon resort to another brand. Which is a drag becouse i run kings on my 1972 fj40 v-8 pro-jection and special setup on my cobra both work flawlessly. Thanx all.
