1" lift got me a 6 inch lift!

Ok, I got a set of FX2 rear 1" blocks awhile back. I ordered a set of longer u-bolts from Fat Bobs garage. I get the truck on jackstands, get the old u-bolts off and get the blocks in. Guess what? The new u-bolts have no starter thread! Bunch of pretty rings around the bolt but their not threads, just rings cut into the metal. Their not progressive!

Ok, so I go into the house to grab another beer and to call my local auto parts store to see if I can get some different bolts. I left the truck up on the jack stands. The wife goes outside to the garage and comes back and says "Is that how high its going to sit?!?!?!" She is short and often complains about the 2.5" AS I installed a few weeks back. I said no, calm down, its still on the jackstands. Then she said the words I longed to hear.... "You should raise it up that high, it looks cool!". I was like are you sure? she said, yeah! So I put my old u-bolts back on and called it a day, had another beer. Before I let it down I measured it. 5.5 inches higher than stock. I went back in and asked her if she realised the only lift I can get for a 2WD is a 6" lift, which is higher by a half inch than what she saw? She said cool! So now I am looking for a 6" lift and some big **** meats!

She could not even see over the tailgate when it was on the jackstands. lol

Lucky me!

my wife gave me the go ahead on a lift too, untill she saw how much it would cost.but in the end i would have put my self in the poor house buying lift, wheels, tires, programmer, gears, and i wanted all the best parts too.if you want a good price there is a member on here crashlucky13 he can get a good price i would recommend a fabtech.i was going to get the fabtech with dirt logic coil overs up front and reservoir shocks for the rear.if you dont off road you may get the basic kit it is cheaper.

I was also lucky. My wife was behind my lift and other parts 100%. She likes the look of the truck.

You better jump on her words before she changes her mind.

I pay the bills so she need not know the damage until its over. LOL Planning on the Fabtech with 35" tires and new gears.

Sweet!!! My girlfriend complains about my lift too, I have a 4in pro-comp and im running 33's and she bitches everytime she gets in it. I dont have any nerf bars or anything, so i usually have to help her in. She's 27 and shes only 5'5!!

Well, I had an idea when I was looking at 295/70/17's but now that I am looking a lift, my ideas have changed. I know I want to go with 35's now but I will likely move up to a 20" wheel now. My wife is like 5' 4", but I plan on getting nerf bars. If she does have a coronary over the cost of the lift, I might have to get some AMP nerf bars and custom fit them to my regular cab.
