Leveling Kit Installation

I just got my leveling kit installed, and i have a few questions. To explain the situation, i am in high school so my dad was afraid that if I installed it i would mess it up, so we took it to a local shop that we have dealt with before. Well, the total installation cost was $400 , not counting the $80 i spent on the kit. Also, are there any necesary parts that are not included with the kit?

That's what i thought, but we haven't actually paid the bill yet, so is there anything that you all would suggest we should do?????

what kit did yall buy ....
i wonder if it was the kit that the strut had to be taken apart to install
$400 would still be high tho but that kit type would call for more labor

the kit might be more to install if it requires the spring to be compressed. but the only kit i can think of that uses that method of install is ready lift and they cost around 200 a kit.

It was just the autospring 2.5" kit. He claims that they had to buy new parts, but didn't explain what they were. Any ideas what they could be? It wasn't aligned either, because i haven't put my new tires on it

Ok, your info says 2004 F250, but you are talking about having an AS 2.5" kit installed, so I am assuming you are now talking about an F150.

That being said yes you got rammed. I was qouted $400 even for parts, labor and alignment here.

Now, if that leveling kit install was for the 04 F250, I could see $400 labor for install, depending on the kit.

yeah, that should be F150, had my dad's truck on the profile, but forget to change it when i got my 04 F150.

Here is exactly what the bill says:
Labor install Leveling Kit 136.00
Labor Install Cam Kit 136.00
Cam Kit Parts 129.00

What is this Cam Kit?

i have never heard of a cam kit needed with a leveling kit. i have heard of them needed when lowering a vehicle but never lifting it. i would go back and talk to the guy, it seems like you got a raw deal. sorry to hear about that

There is nothing needed while installing a leveling kit other than what you bought with the kit. The shop ripped you off and ripped you off bad. The Autospring kit only mounts to the top of the coilover so it's just a matter of unbolting the coilover, bolting the spacer to the top of it, and re-installing it. I've installed three of these kits on 2004+ F150s, all different types too, and they all were able to be aligned fine. I'd recommend that you don't ever spend any money with them ever again.

I would go get some monmey back. They ripped you off. I spent nothing but 2-3 hours doing mine myself. I am sure a shop could do it in abotu an hour or maybe 2 at most. 2 hours at a shop shouldnt cost $400

I think it would be a good idea to ask for the parts he replaced. If he can't produce the old parts (and show why he replaced them without being asked to) then you shouldn't pay. Good luck.

cam kit.......... as in castor camber kit. its for alignments. but i have a 2.5 autospring on mine and i didnt need one and it only took me about 45 minutes to install mine. and btw the castor camber kits on these trucks suck and really are not needed. i was able to align mine just fine even with 35's. i would seriously ask the mechanic why it was so much. i dont even charge 400 to replace ball joints upper and lower and thats alot worse that putting in a leveling kit.
