pitman arm puller question

I am installing my 2.5" AS leveling kit tomorrow and am probably going to get the arm puller to get the bolt out of the upper control arm. I am a little confused as to how the pittman puller works. When you turn the threaded bolt in the pitman puller does it push directly on the ball joint bolt pushing it up and out of the upper control arm?

yes, the puller will hook around the top of the steering knuckle, and then push directly on the ball joint..... but a trick to get them apart, is just to take a hammer and hit the knuckle in a downward motion.... might take a few wacks, but it will come apart easier than trying to fit a puller in place.

on edit, just to clear you up, the balljoint will not come out of the upper control arm.... it does remove from the steeing knuckle though.

Yeah, most folks here seem to use a BFH to seperate it.

when you say steering knuckle you mean spindle right? The piece of metal that holds the hub? Well I am gonna get the puller anyway just to make it easy. I dont like hitting things with hammers. I tend to whack things to hard and I dont want to break anything

Yes, that is the formal term for it. We just tend to be more casual here.

puller isnt necessary. I gave it a good wack with a large hammer and it popped right out.
