2wd lift concerns

Hey all, I've been trying to do the research on this but I can't seem to get much on my generation of truck and I don't know of the differences between mine and the newer ones. I've got a 2000 2wd and am looking to put a little bit of lift on it. From what i've read I really don't like the sound of what a body lift would do to the rest of my truck is. So my question is, is it safe to get a 3.5" spindle lift and also some kind of coil spacer for the front. Not the kind that goes in the spring but under it. If I were to do that, would it cause any bad angles on any of the other suspension compenents upfront? And as far as the rear goes, can I get some kind of block and add-a-leaf setup to raise the rear up? I haven't been able to find anything that says it will work with a 2wd.

Thanks for any help.

Fabtech makes a 7.5" kit for your truck also!

One more question. I decided for the time bieng to level it and then add a body lift. I'll probably upgrade to the fabtech kit when I'm able to save up a decent amount of money. Hard to come by while i'm still in school. Anywho, with a 2inch level to start with, would I be albe to put a LT285/75R16 in there? I'm sure it would be tight and rub but it would be for a limited time as I need to get some new tires soon. And would I still be able to use the OEM wheels?(stock five spoke). If not, what size do ya'll think i could get away with that would still look okay once the body lift was added?

Thanks for any info!

You can fit the 285/75-16's (33x11.50) with a leveling kit and the oem 16x7 wheels. They will look much better when you get the body lift.

Great, now is the "11.50" of that the tire diamater? Or is it the sidewall height?
If anybody has a picture of a 2wd with a slight lift on 33's i'd really appreciate seeing to get a better visual.

Thanks in advance.

A 285/75-16 tire is approximately 11.5 inches wide (285mm) from sidewall to sidewall. In the metric sizing system, the first number(285) is the width of the tire in millimeters. The second number (75) is the aspect ratio (percentage of the tires height in relation to it's width) and the last number (16) is the rim size.

I have a 2004 stx with the leveling kit and I have 285/70r17 on it. It is a 32.7 in tire. Here are a few different shots of it. And they do not rub at all. So the body lift is not all necessary to run 33", you can use a leveling kit if you want them right away. And what year truck do you have?

Hope this helps!!!

Lil man, and badaceds.....

First off, Lil man, your truck looks freaking great dude ! And I'm so glad you posted photos, as I have really been wanting to see an F150 with 285/70/17's because I had figured this was what I was going to go with. So now I'm sure of it :-)

But hey now Lil man, you said > I have a 2004 stx with the leveling kit < Uhhhhh...... "which" leveling kit ???

And Badaceds, you said > Ebay has the for $30 plus about $25 shipping
04-27-2008 12:32 AM < They have the..... what ???

I really want to level my 2wd also..... and I had ordered a 2 1/2" kit, but I think I might return it, as I'm thinking it might give me just a little too much, especially if my boat trailer (it is only about 100 lb tongue weight) pushes it down another 1/2"..... and BTW, my boat trailer will be basically permanently attached to my truck, so it matteers WAY more where it will sit with it, than without it.

Much thanks,
Fish

Also, if u just want the 3 inches plus 2 why dont u ditch the idea of a body lift and just get the spindle lift? The spindle lift will be much cheaper plus its all suspension. Look on ebay for Doestch Spindle 3.5 inch lift. I had this lift on my previous truck. I think it was about 200 something for the lift.

Just the more logical decision IMO.
