Why One Lift Over Another?????

I am just curious about something that I have ran into lately.

Has anyone ever really figured out why some retail off road shops push certain lifts over others; while across town, another shop is exctley the opposite.
Are these shops getting better margins on some kits vs. another or is there a paybacks or incentives involved when they sell more of one kit over another.
If this is the case, are they really giving the consumer what is best for his or her needs or even the better kit on the market?
I mean lets face it, most of the kits for these trucks are bascially the same; yes I know there are differences, some look cooler than others, some offer coil overs and others don't, etc., but the concept is the same
Anyone have any insight on this?

Most shops will push one over the other due to reputation, or history they have with said product. Always push the best. Or in 4wheelparts case. They push Pro comp because......well....they own them or vice versa either way thats why .

It kind of depends on the vehicle. F150 I always push Fabtech because I like the fact it comes with the new front shocks. The majority of the lifts I install are for Jeeps and I always push BDS for two reasons and that's because I think they have the best product and I have no online competition because they only sell to 4x4 shops and won't allow their product to be sold online. All other vehicles are up in the air but I definitely sell the most Superlift for other brands of vehicles because they have so many different vehicles they've designed lifts for and because they're the biggest name when it comes to lift kits and everyone has heard of them so it's pretty easy to sell a familiar product name. As far as discounts it's the same for about every lift company except for pro comp you can get way down on jobber which is why they're listed for so cheap everywhere.

KansasJoe..thanks again for the installation of the ProComp Stage II...

It has been performing flawlessly, and I am in love with my truck again.

Additionally, no vibration at all out of the lengthened front driveshaft. It worked perfectly in the snow on the highway this past 2 months.

It can be a lot of things. Some places don't distribute one product, some get bonuses for x amount of lifts, some have better experience with one product.

I know the Les Schwabs push for Fabtech on ANYTHING, IMO they do this because some big wig white colar pen pusher from Fabtech took out the big head hancho white colar pen pusher from Les Schwab. Thats just my personal opinion and have nothing to actually back that up.

In smaller shop's or specialty shop's they usually will rep one brand because of reputation. If one place does suggest a certain brand lift, you can always ask why. Make sure you do your own research, so you at least have a chance at catching any BS. Stick with a reputable shop, they will only want reputable work and equipment installed on anything they are stamping their name on.
