I have suspension problems
I have suspension problems
Truck rides rough. The bumps are hard. There's a squeak coming from the front. Truck leans a lot on turns. So I ordered some HD Bilsteins and took the truck in to have them installed cause I didn't want to get my hands dirty and get a diagnosis from a pro to find any other problems. They couldn't find the squeak but notice the front crossmember was bent where the bolts are connected to the lower arm. The rubbing could cause the noise. Then they discovered my my ball joints were out. They gave me a ridiculous estimate to fix it like 1500 bucks. So I just had the shocks installed. Took off to eat lunch and they called me in hour saying they couldn't put the front shocks on because the spring compressor wouldn't work. So went back to find my rear shocks installed for free but it was upside down after inspection. At least the rides smoother in the back but now I'm looking for lower arms on both sides and a place where I can get my shocks installed.
Where'd you take this?! Ed's one stop grocer/handyman/mechanic. you need to find a new shop if they can't figure out how to work a spring compressor. How do you know the shocks are upside down? If I remember right the new body style has their shocks mounted the opposite way as the obs. you could've done the rears very easily yourself. just take it to the dealership if theres no other shops in town, those guys sound like they ride the short bus to work
Yeah I know I could'v done it myself and I had the aforementioned reasons. It's the Meineke I always go to on the SW Frwy at Fountain View in Houston. Mounting the shocks upside down seems to be a common thing. They said their compressor broke. They found a problem I wouldn't have able to so I'm thankful for that. Is the ball joint replaceable or does the whole control arm have to be replaced? There's a part number for the separate ball joint.
