If you plan on hitting any dirt (off roading) I would highly suggest Fabtech. Better suited for "harsher" use. Pro-Comp has a lower hanging and thinner front cross member, also they require you to stack your rear blocks, which is 100% fine with pavement or light use, once you start getting into it tho, the stacked blocks will cause axle wrap/hop and the front cross member, well, I'd be nervous about slamming it into anything. IMO.

Thanks for the info everyone. Now I just have to wait until my buddy has some free time and I can get this going. Hopefully it will be done in the next 3-4 weeks.

I know that traction bars are to prevent axle wrap, but do you really get axle wrap with only having 35's? I am still wondering if I need to get traction bars. A lot of times when I hit the gas, my truck kinda feel likes it starts to move a little then like has a bump or a little kick and i get moving, almost like it suddenly shifts into gear or something. Would trac bars prevent this?

This is a little off topic, but why does everyone say the Procomp stage 1 isn't very good because it uses spacers, yet the Rize kits use even bigger spacers and everyone says it's great

I agree Copenhagen...I too wanted the Rize at first, but then realized for the most part, everyone loves the specially designed front cross-member, but there was nothing really special about it other than that...it still uses spacers and a block in the back...

I spent a lot less for the same lift heigth of 8" and I feel my lift is better off due to the coilovers. I know, I know there is a nice little fancy steering components with the Rize, but my truck turns on a dime with the lift installed, and I have yet to experience any issues at all.

Let the hating begin...I know I will get some since I have dared to compare my PC Stage II to the beloved Rize!

35's dont cause axle wrap, higher torque loads from gears do.

cope, great observation.

schmiddy, i hear ya buddy. Here comes the Sh**storm.

Would I need traction bars because I have 456 gears with my 35's? I don't know what it is but it just seems like a lot of times accelerating from a dead stop there is kinda a kick or jump in the acceleration.

Sorry, but I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, I just saw someone post about Traction bars and i had a question on it :o

haha i was preparing myself to read alot of IMO'S in this thread.

plain and simple.

Both good lifts.

Fabtech- Better quality. More expensive.

Pro comp- Cheaper, will do the same thing. Get the stage II and ur good to go anywhere.

Both will last the same amount of time dependent on abuse, etc.

-And yes good observation about the rize. I will agree that the spacers on RIZE and CST are built with more thought.

Oh and i will say pro comp has much better rear shocks than fabtech

They will eliminate the axle wrap. I should have some on in the next few weeks and will do a write up

Am I actually experiencing axle wrap with this hop like or kick like feeling when accelerating?

Yep. That would be it. I've got it too when I gun it.

What's your rear lift setup?

OP
The ProComp will hold up just fine. Just don't rockcrawl or dune jump with it.

Mercedes is just biased on all his suggestions
You get that locker in there yet?

I haven't. I ordered up the gears and locker, and have them sitting here. About a week ago, a guy offered me $300 more for the (I get them fairly cheap) so i think I am going to sell it to him, put more money into my Samurai, then come back and put in the gears and locker. Its hard having two projects at once.

And yes, I MAYBE just a little bit bias... But the cross member does look a little lower then the Fabtech (really not that big of a deal and that skid plate looks sweet).

Let me know how those traction bars help. I also am wanting a set !

I hear you there. Im perusing the autotraders for an old all steel solid axle pickup to go boggin' in.

I wouldnt blame you on the sale! $300 extra would be nice! i'll post pictures and such on the traction bars. I've got superlift traction bars, powerslot cryo brakes, and that skid plate coming on next weekend.

ahh, the skid plate is very nice. it was one of my more favorite mods. i did a few changes to the install to have it look better. to the OP, either kit will be fine, Im biased bc I have the procomp stg 2, so that would get my vote.
