Things to consider when lifting?

To all those that have lifted trucks (six inch) what are some of the day to day announces? Parking Garages? Turn Radius? Etc. Before I lift, I want to make sure I am thinking about everything as it is my only vehicle.

Thanks!

Everything you stated applies...plus the following:

Gas Mileage Suffers
If you don't regear, acceleration will suffer
Tires are more expensive to replace
More frequent alignments
Quicker wear and tear on front end (ball joints/shocks/etc)
Modification Disease (you WILL keep wanting more new stuff for the F-150)

Just a quick list...hope this helps.

Plus all around practicality. Not ideal for a family vehicle, & depending on how big of a wheel / tire size you go, it is nice to have a spare.

I'm thinking about throwing a 4" suspension underneath this for a total of 7" lift. I have to keep the 35s though because I don't want to have to keep a spare in the bed. A 35 should fit underneath... You don't want to defeat the purpose of having a truck in the first place by keeping a big *** spare in the bed. At least for me that's not practical... Just throwing it out there if you're looking for all reasons.

Good luck and post some pics when you lift it.

Having a big truck is nice but just like what everyone else has said there are going to be time whe your like crap this sucks like when you cannt fit into parking garage's and have to walk along ways to get to where your going, car washes that not happening but the big things are cost of tires and cost of regearing. My tires are $387x5 with a spare of course and regearing is like 1800. Hope is sheds some light for you

Thanks!

Turning seems about the same for me
I can park in parking garages, but I have to say a little prayer every time I do out of fear of hitting the top of my truck. I just try and avoid them altogether
Gas mileage will suffer slightly
Girls will love the truck

Do I really only want a 6" lift or should I go with an 8" lift?

Sorry had to throw it out there. Anyways, the other guys have pretty much it the nail on the head. The big thing for me over here in Hawaii is parking spaces. They are all pretty much small because most of the cars on the island are little Hondas and Toyotas. I have to be very careful getting into and out of the spaces.

ISSUES with LIFT..

I have had no issues whats so ever..6in SKYJACKER with 35x12.50x20's.
Turning radius is perfectly the same no rubbing or BALL JOINT issues...
I installed the lift with 500 miles on it and it had 25K when I got rid of it in 2 years.

7ft parking garages and even car washes where no issue...As for parking spots I always park far away any ways...And as for Gas mileage I lost 2 MPG but I didn't do everything on the truck to gain mileage anyway....

Just my 2 cents....

Pros - Road Head
Cons - Running into the car next to you while getting road head.

Your truck is more likely to be stolen or broken into. I know from experience. People see a lifted truck and assume its loaded with stealable mods. which is probably the case. Get a good alarm system!
