6" Procomp Lift

Guys, I have a 6" procomp lift in my 04'supercrew.

I didn't opt for the prcomp coil-over shocks, so the lift came with the spacers to be used with the OEM coil-overs.

The ride is somewhat stiffer now. I think the front has sagged a little and the shocks are not ridding in the correct working range. My understanding of the shocks is that the top of the shock tends to give the softer absorbtion and as the shock shrinks the resistance increase. I think this effect is due to a slight miss alignment in the geometry created by the spacers.

Has anyone else experianced this with the lifts that retain the OEM coil-overs?

I've had my pro-comp basic lift installed for 3-4 weeks now and I didn't think the ride quality changed at all on my truck. The only thing that definetly changed the ride quality was the mud tires I put on. When compared to the stock General (car) tires, the mud tires are a bit stiffer and definetly louder. I just put my stock wheels and tires back on to take a trip to Colorado and with the lift and stock wheels and tires I thought it rode just like stock did before the lift.

check the geometry, but it may be the shocks.

How many miles on em ? Do any off-road when stock ? When lifted ?

I've had my lift on since September, and think that the ride is pretty close to stock (I was hoping for a stiffer ride).

As measured after the lift, and again today there has been no loss in ride height at all. If you think your front is sagging, it could be the coil springs weakening, but not really much else on these trucks.

On another note, the ProComp stage 1 lift is a workhorse for the price. I did some good wheeling yesterday, and aside from my open differentials and Bonneville gears* the truck did amazingly well.

*Bonnevile gears is in refference to my 3.55 gears and 35" tires, giving me a very high gear ratio.

The ride is about the same with the spacer the back is a little harder becouse of the block and spacer ,I had 1 guy want to trade me his coil overs so he could get a softer ride.
Bigger or heavy tires would account for a rought ride.

So I think I figure it out. I put inthe lift in Decemeber, so no real off road yet. Not that things are starting to thaw, the pot-holes are everywhere. And Ya some roads are like a good romp in the bush. Anyway, I think my Right shock is gone and the swaybar is the only thing really helping that side. Now that I have pounded a few pot-holes I am getting bump stear to the right. And when I line up the some of the smaller bumps on each side I can definetly feel a difference. (BTW I have 100k kilometers on it, so not too hard to think the shock is gone, and with all of the winter crud on the road it woudl be hard to notice a leak)

So should I go with stock shocks or aftermarket.

Not a bad idea. But first I need to put in an AAL to get the truck sittin level. Although the pre-runner look is kind of growing on me.

I will have to wash the truck this weekend and get a few pics to put up.

See thats what I am trying to decide on is if I want the Fabtech or procomp.I want it to ride just as soft as it does factory.I didn't even like the stiffness i got with the 2.5in spacer I put in.I was worried the fabtech shocks would ride stiffer so i was leaning toward the procomp to keep my stockers and ride but after reading this,I don't know what to do now.

The truck will ride very, very close to stock with the Procomp stage 1.
