I was planning on the kmc xd series hoss, the ones with 4.5" of backspacing. So 33" is the maximum that I can fit. Well what if I go with a 6" lift, besides the front spacer and the coilovers is there a way to get two extra inches of lift without sacrifices the overall ride quality?

go with the coilover 6" lift and crank them for the 2"s. my ride is still suprisingly smooth, but stiff going over bumps/harsh roads.

yes fabtech makes one. i am not sure how much they cost. but you are probably looking at 2 - 2500 for the coilover lift...thats my best guess on the price. check out www.4wheelparts.com

Thanks nooq I really like your setup espically with it being 2wd. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons with the block vs aal setup?

if you want it done right and still have a smooth ride then go Camburg. They make the best stuff out there as far as performance and still maintain a great ride for daily driving. Total chaos makes a great UCA but if your going to level/lift it call Camburg and do the UCA's with a SAW coilover and if you want to run a 35 then you'd need to glass out the front with some Glassworks. I ran all camburg on the ranger and beat the snot out of it on a regular basis, but i never had to worry about getting home after a day in the desert...cause you get what you pay for and Camburg is the best.

aal = slightly stiffer ride (some hate it, where others can't notice it. Up to you on that one) but also allows for a higher load carrying capacity.

Block= maintain "stock" suspension and "stock" ride quality. Lifts you up, but some think it looks cheap. Can't go over 5" and some states have stricter "block" lift laws (i think). I would run the Fabtech 5" block, then if you need more rear lift, look into AAL.

As for price, check in with this guy:

Tell him your a member of the site, and that I sent you over his way. He will set you up right man. (best prices on lifts, tires, wheels, and anything else for our trucks)

Thanks Mercedes for your help. Now I have another question lol, with aal which seems the way im headed right now would upgrading from the stock shocks greatly or just slightly help with the extra stiffness generated with the aal?

Good question.... honestly I am not sure. The better shock would allow for a better ride... but enough to "counter" the effects of AAL ? Not 100% sure.

I would suggest trying the AAL before buying anything to improve it. Many guys on here say they don't even notice it, where others say they don't like it. All comes down to how your butt feels (personal preference).

Thanks Mercedes. I have one more question lol thanks for helping me out Im new at this, does putting a coilover in the front put strain on the ball joints like a spacer does?

No worries bud, its what the forum thing was made for!

yes, same principal. Either one is extending the space between the control arms. Going 2" wouldn't be too extreme. Plenty of people have run 2" leveling kit or coilover adjustments with no problems. Coilovers just offer a better ride, and a better system for off-road use.

So if I wanted to get 3" coilovers it would be best to get aftermarket UCAs?

You want an additional lift of 3" ? I think that might be getting a little steep. The new UCA would help, and allow for a lil more flex but just really not too sure on the 4x2, but I think it just might be a little too much. I would ask around, maybe some of the 4x2 guys can chime in with their know how. nooq ?
