Bed Bolt removal

Hi, I have yet another question for installing a body lift on my 2000 2wd ext cab. When removing the bed bolts is it possible to remove them from underneath? I have a bed liner and cannot access the bed bolts from the top. Thanks!

On both BL's that I installed, one on a 2000 SCAB 4x4 and the other on my current 03 SCrew 4x4, I took a razor and cut around the bolts to remove the bedliner. It wasn't too much of a PITA... I think a t-47 Torx bit is what you need.

On the first lift, we couldn't get them out. I was told that ford uses some kind of special lock-tight on them, so we cut the first ones off with a grinder underneath.

On the second set, I had someone heat them the nuts underneath with a torch and I used an impact wrench to pull them out on top. This was much easier.

This was the hardest part of both lifts for me. I would try to cut the bedliner off from around the bed bolts though and pull them from the top, or just cut them off all togther. I don't think you'll be able to take the nuts off from the bottom though. Those have to remain still and try to thread them out from the top.

I think Jughed was asking if it was a plastic drop-in liner and not a spray-on. If it is a spray-on I wonder who did it because almost all of the ones I have seen they do not spray over the bolts.

o ok it was a plastic drop in but because of the tonnau sp?? cover it was much easier to just cut around the bolts rather than take out the bedliner

The factory bedliners are pretty easy to remove. You have to remove the tie down bracket witha T30 I think. and if you remove the rubber pieces the front tie downs bolt inthrough, the liner comes out and in very easy. Sounds like yours isnt factory though, the bd ford emblem stamped in the front wall is the easiest way to tell.

Cab Bolt Removal

yeah, well i appreciate yalls help, i got past that obstacle, but i have a new problem. I got all the cab bolts out except the one directly below the dash on the driver side and below the gas/ brake pedals on the driver side. We loosened them up to where they move around freely, but the rubber bushing is still attached to the bottom and we cant seem to grasp it good enough to turn the top of the bolt so it comes out. I dont know if that makes sense but any advice would be appreciated. we thought about cutting the bolt above the top bushing but that really wont do us any good. Thanks!

Both parts of that bushing stay on, just want to make sure we are on the same track first. I had to use a large pair of channel locks and the trick is to get them to wedge in there so when the bolt is turned it makes the channel locks grip harder. It takes a few times but once you hit the sweet spot tadaa, and i had to use the ratchet the whole time, the slower pressuer worked better. Those were a PITA on mine as well, dont give up.
