Wandell...you here??
And anyone else too...
Hey, regarding the leveling kits. I see some guys using 2" AS and some using 2.5". I only see one kit on AS website and it is the 2.5". When using a 2.5" kit is anything needed for the rear or do these kits raise about the same so it truly levels it? Also, I read (can't remember where on here now) Daystar is making a kit like AS but with urethane...they don't show these on the site. And lastly, which one is better? I can see where neither should change the factory ride since it is going on top of the shock but is one better constructed than the other. Your thought??
Thanks Dude!

"Wandell" if i wanted to put a 3'' body lift on mine what sort of things should i change besides tire size of corse i was thinking about BFG M/T 35 and 16x10 rims like backspacing and torsion bar/adjustment? or if anyone has any advise
I would crank the torsion bars and get an alignment. Your wheel backspacing should be 4.5". This is what i have and this will put your tires even with the fender flares.

That setup will be fine and look good. If you want to level it out, do what Keith said after you install the lift. Crank the torsion bars and get an alignment.
You may want to look at a programmer to make up for some lost power once you slap the 35's on, but it won't be absolutely necessary IMO, even if you have a 3.55... I ran this same set up on a 2000 SCAB (3"BL and 35s on a 3.55 gear ratio) and it wasn't the fastest thing on the road, but she was sufficient...
Other than that, pics of the install process are in my gallery, and check out the other 2 BL threads I just post one, for some things that might help you out.
Good luck and post some pics when you're done.
I think my thread got Hi-Jacked....Somehow it went from late model truck leveling kits to early model truck body lift and torsion bar adjustments...what the!...
Anyone have anything to add on my "ORIGINAL" posted questions?? If not then I'll remove it from my subscribed threads and figure it out on my own.
Thanks thor for staying on topic...

I agree. I'd just crank up the torsion bars enough to level the truck and get an alignment. I'd use a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing.
As for the leveling kit's on the 04-08, they all do the same thing and it's pretty hard to make a bad one.

I'd get the AS. It's cheaper and it's steel. Seems like urethane would wear out.
Edit: As far as 2" vs. 2.5", it just depends on how much lift you want. I'm not sure about the actual difference though. It'll differ on every vehicle.

Yeah, every truck is differnt. Most new 4x4 owners say the 2.5 inch kit levels them while 4x2 owners say it leaves the nose high. If you are trying to run a larger wheel/tire combo, go with the 2.5 and then raise the rear with a taller lift block if you need to.
