2003 fx4 front level

I have a 03 fx4 Scab that I was planning on doing a front level kit. I have also heard that on the 03 you don't have to buy a kit, you can just adjust the torsion bars. Is this true, and has anyone done it. I might sound stupid, but how exactly do you go about adjusting them, and do you need new shocks or anything?? Any help is appreciated!!

Right all you have to do is crank up the torsion bars. There is one on each side. Just follow the long torsion bar back toward the cab. There is an adjustment bolt and cam at the end of the bar. Turn each bolt in an equal number of turns (it is not unusual for them to have different settings) untill you are level or one of the bolts bottoms out. Then have your front end aligned.

Does this also work on an 02 FX4?

Cranking the torsions bars up will work and if you don't want to do it yourself most suspension shops will do it for like $25 I did it to my 03 supercab I got 2 inches of lift but my truck rode rough even with new shocks. I now have a set of 3 inch torsion keys wich leveled my truck and it keeps the torsion bars just about stock so the ride is alot smoother than just cranking them up but if you dont care just crank them and get it aligned

If you bought new torsion keys, you angles are extreme and you have way way to much pre load on the torsion bars. You will be much much better off cranking with stock keys. This will give you a better ride and keep you pre load on the tbars down. Not to mention that you wont waste your money on crappy keys.

I agree. Increasing torsion bar preload has the same effect whether you use the OEM keys or aftermarket keys.

I just cranked my torsion bars up and I did 3 turns on the drivers side, but I only needed 2 turns on the pass side to make it the same height on both sides....is this normal?
