installing bilsteins

Got my bilstein 5100's yesterday and i am going to try and tackle the install today with my bro. It dodn't come with any instructions so i was wondering if anyone had a write up of it or some pics. was gonna have a shop do it but they wanted 200 bucks to do the install and i was like HELL NO. Also curious on how you actually adjust these shocks. Thanks.

Sorry i should have been more specific with my question. When i take the coil and take it to pep boys so they can compress it or whatever, what exactly does that accomplish?

I don't understand what you mean what does it accomplish. All they do is dissassemble your coil and shock and put the bilstein in and recompress the coil so you dont have to do it yourself.

So i just take out the coil and take it to pep boys, along with my shocks, and they will adjust the bilsteins for me and put them in my coils. Then i just install the coils back in my truck witht the shocks in it. I must be retarded or something.

Yes I don't know how to adjust them though. I bought them already adjusted.

Thanks for the help. Maybe someone else will chime in on how to adjust the 5100's.

Just make sure that the little clip ring toward the lower end of the shock is on the top setting (furthest away from the bottom of the shock) This allows the coil to be seated higher on the shock in order to raise the front end of your truck the 2" you are looking for.
