want to add coil springs if possible?
i have been trying to increase the lifting load of the front end of my 2001 f150 4x4 and it was suggested that i try to add springs to the front end. if this is possible can anybody tell me how to do it?????? i mostly need the extra lift in the winter time for the snow plow. i do have the torsion bar suspension and i maxed them out then backed them off one turn.

What is your truck rated at?
I am assuming that you have a 2004+ MY truck (P221). With that said, there was a 7700lb HD package. Is that the one you have? If not, you could buy a set of 7700 lb front shock/spring modules. They will fit your truck as is. If you need more you will have to go aftermarket, but beware. The current springs are a tight package to begin with. Watch your clearance to the tires at rebound in turns.

(jdrozdow)it says he is a 2001 friend...
your truck is a 2001 correct? if you have coils you are a 2wd? other wise you would have torsion bars (if you were 4x4), and we would be taking about something completly different.
buy a daystar 2.5 leveling kit not sure about price but that should work great. you can also fit some bigger tires with that aswell.

Man!! I guess all you guys need to take an english class He said in the very first scentence it's a 2001 4WD!!
OK, with that out of the way...
firemedic, you basically have two (realistic) options. Max out the pre-load adjustment on your bars...which you've already done. (but there's no real need to back them out one turn, leave them full in)
Your other option is to locate a '99-'00 F-250 LD. (It's a F-250 that's the exact same body style as your F-150) It has the 7,700 lb payload package which included heavier torsion bars. They should be a direct one for one swap and will add some extra support. Adjust them as needed.
I've shopped...no one makes an aftermarket cool torsion bar for our trucks that I can find. There's also no coil spring and/or coil over conversions for our trucks...outside some very high dollar custom jobs.
