Mod Fever Attacks!
Mod Fever Attacks!
Well, I have Friday lined up for my '00 Expedition 5.4 4x4:
3 inch Body Lift.
Rancho 5000 Shocks.
1 inch rear coil spacer.
When that is done, I plan on adding my Volant cold air box (which will require some fitting with the lift-hopefully).
From there I will raise the front end another 1/2-3/4 of an inch to give it a little more suspension lift and to firm up the soft T-bars up front and match the rear's coil lift (I will wait to see how it rides with the new shocks first though).
Next, the heavy steel rims will be replaced with some significantly lighter F150aluminium 17x7.5's which will be more than likely shod in some type of 33 inch AT tire (probably the lighter P-styles). I've found the pax A/T 285/70-17 Firestone Destinations for $118 dollars, and since I will be buying five-maybe six (FI, if weather conditions here get rough, and I blow one tire and go to a spare, I may want another to backup the spare as well).
And then an alignment!
I like the look of the bigger tires, but the weight, price and rubbing...I don't know. That's why I want to do all of my suspension first to see how much wiggle room is available

Ft. Lauderdale speed and truck world. I think the BL is about $400 labor, which I thought was an outstanding price.
We also talked gears, which would be $3000 (remember I have an IFS) if I added a traction device up front as well to get rid of the open front diff. This includes the rough labor and materials, but that is way off, and only if I go anything bigger than a 33-and even then I'd rather not. Though they warranty their work for a year.
I'm now more concerned about fitting the cold air box...

Just got back there, got a great deal on five Nitto Terra Graplers LT295/70-17's (33.25 inch), mounted and road force balanced and removing of the old tires, etc. for $1025 including tax.
I'll be taking before and after shots
The guy working there was concerned with the Class III hitch, which is completely attached to the frame-right? I won't have to worry about losing it b/c it's attached the bumper...?
Also, he was concerned about the steps/bull bars, which I've confirmed are attached to the body-right? Just want to be sure...
Anyway, no one I know has ANY jacked Ex's, so I'm hoping I can keep my truck a satisfying, effective, tough looking daily driver.
We are looking at at least 1.5-2 inches of suspension lift (1.5 more inches of tire+ coil spacer+torsion bar) and ground clearence, with the added clearence and stance of the 3 inch body lift.
I keep thinking of going with the 2 inch, but at least with the 3 I have options for bigger tires. I just hope they won't look silly...I feel better going with the 295/70 Nittos (33.25) vs. the 285/70 Firestones Destinations (32.8)
Eitehr way, I'm excited

I dropped off the rims yesterday, so I'm dropping it off at 0800 tomorrow morning (Friday). I'd really like to stay and take pictures but want them to just git 'er done...
Hopefully she will be ready for the weekend so I can take out my RockStar girls!!
Those Nittos look great in person, and I'm sooooo happy I found a real "33+" inch LT/AT with an agressive pattern...I just hope they don't teh suck on teh highway for noise. I was told they are fanatastic...we'll see
