New offset 2 1/2" AS do any damage?

I know that the newer Auto Springs kits are offset for clearance issues, do they also do anything to help with the CV boot issue? I want to order a set today, but don't know whether to go with 2 or 2 1/2. Will I need an AAL with the 2 1/2? I don't want to be replacing CV boots or anything else prematurely. I have a bone stock 06 Scab FX4. Thanks...

hey jet, welcome to the site, this has been covered a bunch of times in the past, if you use the search feature and type in leveling, you will find days of reading material. I had the 2 inch AS for 6 months and didnt have any problems. I wouldnt go with the 2.5 AS, to many severe angles. I know theres people on here tho that have the 2.5 AS and have had no problems. I would just stay with the 2 inch. You will most likely need a aal with the 2.5 if your going to be towing. Just search and enjoy reading and posting.

I have searched and read as much as I can, what I can't seem to find out is specifically does the new offset design only deal with some clearance issues, or does it reduce the CV boot angle also. I'm probably more inclined to go with the 2", however if the new design eliminated the boot wear, I'll take the 2.5". This might be the most I'll do to the suspension for a while. Thanks.

2.5 inches is 2.5 inches.. offset or not. That will not affect your cv angles. The offset just keeps the parts from rubbing that are too close in the suspension travel. I have the 2.5 offset AS on mine. Haven't had it on long enough for wear issues. I really am concerned about the upper ball joints being so close to the travel limits though. I am not to concerned about the boots. I don't think they will be a problem. maybe keeping them soaked in armorall do keep them pliable and fresh would help?

I've been running the AS 2.5" for over a year+ I put it on right after I bought my truck new. It sits perfectly level and I've had no issues at all. My CV angles aren't really that bad either. I say.... Go for it! You'll love the look.

Anyway, welcome to the site and be sure to post some pictures when you get yours done!

HiVoltage,

Thats good to know, thanks for the info. And Texan Aviator, good luck on the upgrade! Maybe we'll get to work together before you go.
