Rancho lift for 07' fx4

How do you guys feel about the rancho 4" front 2.5" rear lift. Is it a good lift? Is it fairly easy to install? Do i have to cut anything more than the rear lower a-arm bracket? I want to go bigger than a leveling kit, but not sure if i want to go all the way to a 6" kit. Do you have any better suggestions for the application i am looking for? Thanks for you help guys!

I have the Rancho lift and am very happy with it. I did the install by myself on jackstands in my garage with hand tools. If you're somewhat handy with tools, you shouldn't have a problem installing it yourself. I would suggest another set of hands on a few spots though just to make life easier. You do not need to cut any other parts besides the A-arm that you mentioned.

I too wanted to go bigger than a leveling kit, but not as big as a 6". I love the way our trucks looks with 4" of lift and 35" tires....it's perfect in my opinion. The other thing I like about the Rancho lift, is that it allows you to run stock wheels still, which is what I will do for the winter/road salt months. If you need a copy of the install instructions, let me know and I can email them to you.

Take a look at my gallery for pics of my setup.

Nice

Ok, that is definetly what i am going to do because your truck looks awesome and at just the height i want. Where did you get yours? I found it on summit racing for $1,500.00. Did you get it anywhere cheaper? Thanks for your help. P.S. Awesome truck!

Thanks for the compliments!

I found mine on Ebay for $1700 shipped, including RS9000X adjustable shocks earlier this year around spring.

The link below has it at a decent price which includes shipping and RS9000X shocks, but I would still shop around, you may be able to find a little better price:

Also make sure you order the kit for your truck with a build date after November '04. They changed the front brake lines and made them longer for our newer trucks.

I had the Rancho 4" on my 2004 F150. I didn't have any problems, it help up to the abuse I put it through. I just didn't like the shocks as much as I like Bilsteins. If I was getting another 4" lift, I'd probally go with the 4.5" RCD, not to say the Rancho isn't good.

The kit itself does not come with shocks, you need to buy them separately. But many places include the shocks as a package. You can't re-use your stock shocks, you need new, longer ones.

Check out: http://www.gorancho.com/html/products/shocks.html

They have all of their shocks listed and explain the differences between them all.

I recommend the Bilstein's or adjustable Rancho's.

I had the adjustable Rancho shocks on an older Ranger and the differenece between the firmest and softest ride was like night and day.

Here's a good place to buy the Bilsteins for a 4/6" lift if you go that route.

I had the adjustable Ranchos on my 2004 F150 and have to say that I like the Bilstein 5100 series a LOT more.
