Read a few of the posts and sounds like a 2" lift does not have to be done profressionally. If this is true, what all is needed? Was thinking of going with rancho shocks. Good idea or bad ? Or with rancho would I need to go higher? What about the rancho lift kit? Good or bad? How much do they go for? Also my truck is 1999 2wd.

Rancho shocks are okay. You don't need to get adny kind of special lift with them, you could put them on a completely stock truck. No lift HAS to be installed professionally, you can do just about anything in your driveway, you just need the proper tools. Another route for you to go is maybe a body lift. You can get them in 2-3 (or higher) inch kits. From what I hear they are pretty easy to install.

If you are pretty set on a lift, go to http://www.4wheelparts.com and see what you can find there. Although I don't really recommend buying from them, I have heard a few customer service horror stories.
