Actual Height? 2.5" AS and 3" blocks

First off, I want to give a big thumbs up to everybody on the site - by far my favorite place to spend time on the Web. I've learned a lot of useful info from you guys, not to mention developed an even greater addiction to messing with my truck. On to the post subject:

I'd like to put on a 2.5" leveling kit and 3" block in the rear, and then upgrade to a 315 70R17 tire, and I'm a little worried about being able to get into my garage... If my measurements are correct I currently have just over 8" of clearance (measured from right in front of 3rd brake light) with my current setup (17x9 Eagle Alloys, 265 70R17 & stock susp). The way I figured it, the new suspension and tires would increase my truck height by approximately 5.76 inches - which would leave me a solid 2.24" of clearance. That is combining the tire height difference (2.76 in) with the 3" block.

I guess my question is, do I need to take any other factors into account (the front leveling kit, etc.)?

It seems I've read a number of posts where very similar trucks that put on the same leveling kits came up with different measurements. I'd just hate to block myself out of my garage!

Thanks in advance for any advice (or encouragement)!

2.76"

Not sure about your 2.76" tire height increase, but if that is the difference in your two tire sizes your truck will only raise half that amount & the other half will be up in your fender. Sorry if I misunderstood.

I have the setup your are looking at except my tires measure 33.4" tall and I believe yours will be about 34.4" tall. So theoretically, your truck should be about 1/2" taller than mine. If that is the case, you should fit in a standard 9'x7' garage door (take into account the opener if it hangs down from the ceiling, mine are mounted directly above the door so they don't interfere).

When my truck was stock, I had to cut my antenna down in order for it not to hit on the door when entering my garage. After the lift, I had to chop off another 3" or so. This is by no means scientific, but gives you an idea how much higher the truck sits.

By the way, I just love how much bigger overall it makes the truck seem, I get comments everytime I drive it. Check out my gallery.

Hope this information helps.

Thanks for the replies!

knighj1: Yeah, I'd be interested in hearing how yours turns out - are you going to be running the same size wheels and tires as well? What brand tire are you going with?

RJP66F100: Why didn't I think of that? The 2.76" is the increase in overall diameter - but since the truck's not going to be sitting on TOP of the tire, it won't see all of that extra height. Thanks for catching that...

twmalonehunter: Your truck looks great! Those wheels are so tough looking - I think I see some black wheels in my truck's future...

But yeah, my garage opening is the standard 7' tall, with the opener recessed higher toward the ceiling - so I should be good to go.

I have the bfg A/T 325/60/20 on factory 20's(same tire Nebraska is running he was the insperation behind it), I have the 2.5AS and the 3"AS block, but Im considering doing a 1.5" Skyjacker AAL, b/c other that have run this setup without the AAL sit only .5-1" higher in the rear or maybe level and I want a slant b/c I hate the truck being higher in the front, plus Ill have the rollbak in the rear and it weights like 80-100lbs

80-100 lbs. is not going to squat the rear down with an AAL, it will slightly with just the 3" block.

Also, many get 2" of lift in the rear from just a 1.5" AAL.
