This is the best way to describe backspacing. .

The easiest way to measure backspace is to lay the wheel face down onto the ground so the backside of the wheel is facing up. Take a straight edge and lay it diagonally across the inboard flange of the wheel. Take a tape measure and measure the distance from where the straight edge contacts the inboard flange to the hub mounting pad of the wheel. This measurement is backspace.

If you do the same set-up as him with my wheel, it's going to rub. Trust me on that, if you did the 3" body as well than you'd be fine.

So it would rub because those 2 rims have diff backspacing or what? The rim is the same size otherwise. And when you say rub, how much rubing and where heh.

Yes, the backspacing plays a huge role in how the wheel/tire package will stick out of your fenders and fit in your fenders.

It'd probally rub quite a bit, probally on the front bumper valance, in the front and rear of the fender flares, the fender flare lining.

Just go with 38s and call it a day.

The 39.5s will only make your truck .75" taller than 38s.

You have a nice tire/wheel combo ALL4Ford, I've been looking at those tires for a long while. They only recently came out with the 20" wheel option. They also stated on pirate4x4 they will be coming out with a 44 sometime.

Looks great on your rig, and I don't say that often.

Hmm, I thought yours had like 6" of backspacing. I guess I was wrong.

My wheels are 20x10 with 4-5/8" of backspacing which is damn close. I rubbed with 37x13.50s on these wheels, trimming fixed the problem though. I've got Bilstein 5100s in the front cranked for another 2" and it doesn't look like I could clear 39.5s but we'll see once I get my 37s back on the truck.

OO I thought you just had a 2' aal in back thump so you have 2' in front also..Right now im going with one of your 2 setups. Im just trying to get all the details so I have no issues when i go to the shop and tell them this is what I want. I seen the other guy jr has the setup with 2.5 spacer up front not sure if thats the same or diff.
Also if that backspacing is that close it might be ok. What did you 2 have to trim?

I'd be willing to bet that the yellow truck previously posted has some rubbing or they did some major trimming. I had to trim a little bit to get rid of my rubbing with my Rize 8" and 37s but than again my wheels are 20x10 with 4-5/8" of backspacing.

Actually that truck had very minor rubbing, They had to trim very little.

That doesn't make sense but I'll take your word for it.

EDIT: I'm sure it wouldn't rub under normal street driving but any offroading it'd be rubbing.

All of my pictures in my gallery are only with the 8" Rize and 2" Deaver add-a-leaf. I just recently added the 2" in the front. According to ALL4FORD, if you say with a backspacing around 4-1/2" you'll be fine with the set-up you want. I trimmed the lower front bumper valance, the rear of the fender lining and fender flare but the rubbing only occured offroad when the wheel was turned to lock and hitting a bump.
