Lifting

I have a 97 F150 and I was thinking about getting a leveling kit or coil springs or coil spacers just so the front would be as high as the back. If I bump the front up 2 inches on the standard stock truck do you think 34s will fit without rub or am I going to have to go ahead and get the lift?

Another Question I have is what should I do get the coil spacers or the springs and what is a cheap way to getting your truck lifted? I have heard you can flip the leaf springs around and it give you 5 1/2 in the back and then for the front you just get blocks????

I don't think you'll be able to fit 34's if you've got a 2wd. But with a 2" lift coil and 3" spindle up front with aal and 2" block in the back you'll be fine.

You could also add a 3 inch body lift also.

??? alright I was told you can fit 34s on a stock 4x4 beacuse the back and the front are equally lifted. If I get the 2 and 1/2 inch coil spacers on the front then it will be just as high as the front. Then It would be as high as a 4X4 which can fit 34s right or no?

you've got to watch going higher than 2" with spacers or coils in the front on the 97-03 cause it's hard to get the vehicle back into alignment. I know a couple people on here did, like pahrump. He was fine with his 2 1/2" spacer. And as far as I know, even with the 2 1/2" spacer it's not going to give you the exact height as a 4x4. I'm also wondering if the 4x4 cranked on its torsion bars to clear those 34's. It you're looking to run 34's Try going with a spindle lift. Easy install and you get the blocks for the back, 3" spindle and new ubolts for like $380 shipped. Also what size rim do you plan on running and how wide?

380 isnt bad but for my 97 I can get a 3inch body lift on top of the 2and 1/2 coil spacers for like 175 not including the spacers. But if you say it might mess with my alignment I am going to have to look into that with the 3inch body and 2 and 1/2 spacer they should defiantly fit correct? I am getting all 4 super swamper tires for 300 bucks from a buddy of mine. As for rim size I need 15s, not sure on width have to ask him.

also A friend of mind builds trucks from the ground up so he will do all my instillation for around 50 bucks.

So if you have any more ideas that could be cheap lmk and don't worry about installation cost because he will do it for cheap. I know around here they will charge you about 600 just to put on a body lift.

Another think what about the leaf springs? I head you can flip them around to give you about a 5 and 1/2 lift. But those are only in the back if this is possible what do you do to the front?

I'm not sure on flipping the leaf springs, but if you go with the body lift and the 2 1/2 spacer you'll be able to fit the 34's. Make sure you get some new camber bolts to help with the alignment. Also as far as I know 15" rims will not fit over the brakes. (Wandell give me a hand here)

Right, you need 16 or larger wheels to fit over the brakes. Also, if you install a flif kit on the rear it will lower the truck not raise it. Simply use an add-a-leaf or lift blocks.

You need to get tires that fit a minimum 16" wheel.

Nah you can get 15 inch rims I found out you just need to make sure the offset is large enough for the brake to fit in

THe only 15 inch wheel I know of in our 5x135mm bolt pattern is made by Eagle Alloy (if they still make it). It only has like 2.5 inches of backspacing and is 10 inches wide. This means it will stick out 5 inches farther than on OEM 16x7 wheel. If you go with a full suspension lift or lift spindles, the front wheels will stick out even farther than that. You will be much, much better off to go with a 16 inch or larger wheel.

Am I missing something? You posted a link to a 15x12 inch wheel with a 8x6.5 inch bolt pattern. The 97-03 F-150's use a 5x135mm bolt pattern. I scrolled through the Rockcrawlers and they don't list a 15 inch wheel with our bolt pattern.
