to lift or not to lift....

Ok, I have a 2005 reg cab 4wd w/ skyjacker leveling springs and 33" nitto mud grapplers on 20's...I love the way the truck looks and when I first bought it I felt like it was huge and I really needed to pull myself up into it(going from an 03 mustang gt) and now It feels like Im getting in a reg truck again! This being said, I want it higher. Not a foot higher, but definately higher. Now, my budget is a little tight but I need to do something. I've been looking at some body lifts as well as suspension lifts. Obviosly the suspension lift is much more, but will the body lift make that much of a difference? Is 3" really that much when it comes to suspension? What is the price comparison compared to a suspenion lift after install? Will the 33's look ok with a body lift? And finally one more question....Do reg cab trucks look ok with lifts? Ive seen a lot of supercrews and they looks frigin awesome...I cant really find many reg cabs with body or suspension lifts, and the ones that I do find dont have aftermarket tires. I know that an f150 is a full size truck, but do reg cabs look of with lift, I just don't want my truck to look like a lifted ranger (because its not as long as an sc) when its coming down the road! Thanks a lot! OH! will a body lift void my warranty?

Well look at my truck for ?'s about the body lift. I think the AS kit and the body lift make a substantial difference. And it should look ok with 33" tires. If you take a look around there are some reg cabs with lifts and they look very good. If you do go witha suspension lift i would go with bigger tires and you are going to have to get new wheels. A body lift is definitely cheaper, but they have their downsides also. Search for a link about "show your lifted truck". There are a ton of trucks in there and you should be able to find a reg cab in there.

Thanks for the info...yea, I found a few lifted reg cabs, and they look damn good! I had the hardest time finding someone to install a body lift. They all said they didnt have time, but today I finally found a guy that said he'd do it. He told me around $500...does that seem right? $500 to install plus $300 for the body lift brings me to $800, and a suspension lift isnt that far off from there! Will 3" make a difference? And is the install on a body lift difficult? I'm pretty handy and feel I may be able to do it, but I don't have any mechanics tools or anything. Are the directions on a performance accessories lift clear..I mean I dont really know much when it comes to some of this stuff...Im more of an electrical sytem and under the hood guy...suspension kinda confuses me...what will I need to install the body lift myself? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance!

Its a lengthy but straight forward install from what I've heard. Yo can look at the instructions on performance accesories web site. 500 install is a fair price. Who is going to do it, I'm moving back to MA and I'm looking for a shop to do some work. Who is doing the work for you.

That is a really good price. Many on here have done the body lift, but i recommend reading the install, it sounds pretty rough to me. Like i said earlier the body lift makes a pretty big difference, especially when you throw a leveling kit on there.

cliff-What town are you moving to? I have a plow on the truck and theres a guy in mendon, ma who services my plow but hes a mechanic. Ron Champney auto. He'll do anything. Aftermarket stock, whatever you throw his way! And hes extremely reasonable! $50/hr

Thanks 06...I have a reg cab already leveld with skyjacker springs and 33" mud grapplers, so it looks beefy already, its just to low to me....Im hoping 3" body lift is enough..I just dont wanna spend all that money and wish I didnt do it because its not high enough..I mean, I dont expect it to look like it has a 6" lift on it, but I want sokme height...I look at 3" on a ruler and it doesnt seem like much, but you and others have told me that it is, so Iguess I should just bite the bullet! Also, you mentioned downsides...can you elaborate on that? Thanks

Downsides include the inability to add a brush guard without modifications, no extra ground clearance, and some other things I can't remember everyone saying when i asked the same question.

How much was the install on your truck? Does it ride the same?

If you have the money for it go with the lift, I think once you get use to the 3 inches you would have wished you went higher, I have the 6" procomp with 33's on 20's personally I like the look that it has with the 33's but either way I'm looking to get 35's when I need to replace these.

Keep us updated.
