Daily Driver ? how high
I've been doing a little research just looking around seeing what kind of setup everyone has and I have a few questions about lifting my truck , I have an 03 stepside standard cab , my thoughts right now are just to do a 6inch suspension lift with a 3inch body lift and most likely 35's , from what I've seen it looks pretty good , my question is... is that pushing it as far as a daily driver? , if I go over a 6 inch lift am I am gonna go crazy if I have to make a trip or an hour drive here and there? I appreciate any imput , thanks guys

you think that would fly over well on such a short truck ? I'm def. looking into going higher I just figured going with a 6 inch would be playing it safe I guess , the 8inch lifts look great , some guy on here I think the name is dubelhor , he's got a 6 inch on the same truck I got and it looks great but doesn't have that extra bit of lift that I want , is there any other parts I'd need to get my truck running good with the lift and tires?
, by the way your truck looks great , that things a monster

As you stated I only have a 6" lift only, and I also have 33" tires. This is mainly due to stock gearing. This truck is also my daily driver, and though the pics are deceiving, it is plenty tall. I am 5'10" and it is quite a step to get in and out numerous times a day. I also considered how out of proportion a reg cab short bed truck would look if lifted too tall. Longer trucks can look good with taller lifts. Overall I am happy with my truck and it gets its share of compliments since lifted. Good luck

I appreciate the imput , I really like the way your truck looks and I also agree that longer trucks can pull the higher lifts off , I think Im gonna stick with the 6inch lift and the 3 inch body lift , I mean I'm 6 ft 5' and my truck isn't exactly low to begin with I think I'll be well off with that amount of lift , is there any changes I will need to make to the gears if I just do that and throw 35's on it ?

if youre just going to use 35s i recommend 4.11 gears
only problem here is we dont know what drivetrain you have
if you have a v8 it wont be that bad without gears
but if you have a v6 i highly recommend changing gears
also, if you are going to change gears, be absolutley sure youre going to stay with 35s cause you dont want to change gears more than once

Sean somer - I really like my BDS lift. I had planned for a long time to use RCD, but in the end decided on BDS. The are a quality lift too, great welds, very well constructed, nice finish and it came with compression struts that were compatible with my manual tranny, whereas RCD states I could not use theirs with my setup. Price was comparable so that was not a factor. Would buy again.
RunoverIT71 - Post pics when you are done. If you go with 35's you will probably need to regear. I did not, but I stayed with 33's and I also have the manual tranny which allows me to tailor my RPM's to the situation better. I did have a slight decrease in power and I know gears would make it better. I also have the 4.6 V-8. If you have the 5.4 V-8 you may be able to get away without gears, I don't know? Also if you are 6'5" you probably have long legs which will make all the difference vrs my short legs. Good luck!

Yea Im gonna see how it plays out without the gears , I have the 5.4 so I might be able to pull it off then again I chopped my muffler off and dumped my exhaust before the rear tire , the sound it great but the truck is draggin ... I need more piping becuase it's such a short truck and the way things are looking right now Im gonna leave the muffler off get a true dual set up with magnaflow cats , Im definately gonna throw those pictures up when the lift comes in , again .. thanks a lot guys , this forum is really helpful
