AS 2.5/UCA+Spring=Contact
AS 2.5/UCA+Spring=Contact
I was out last night adjusting my headlights after installing the AS 2.5, and I noticed that the UCA had hit the spring and chipped the paint, on both sides. That would mean that the front end came unloaded at bumps or transitions.
I cant say I heard any obvious noises, but contact is not necessarily a good thing.
Anybody have this happen, and if so, what should I adjust to stop this.
On a side note, the upper ball joint doesn't seem so out of whack underload-but it definitely looked odd up on the stands.

One thing I did different than the instructions, is that I loosened the bolt and nut on both sides of the UCA, to get the UCA to seat on the tapered shaft.
If I didn't, I had to pry the UCA down, and that was a struggle.
Could it be that the tightened bolts kept the UCA tensioned, not allowing the UCA to come in contact with the spring?
That's a stretch.
The picture with my sig is the before shot, I have to clean the truck to take an after.

I had (took it off) a 2" AS spacer on my truck. The only time the knuckle touched the spring was when the shock was fully extended on jackstands, which could also happen while driving. I didn't like that very much. I guess that's why it's a cheaper lift.
Right. I've heard members with the old design say they could hear the spring hit over large bump/dips when the suspension topped out.
