what exactly makes a fx4 a fx4?? is it worth paying the extra money for the package??? or is just things you can do yourself? shocks etc..??

I really can't tell you if it's worth it paying for the FX4 versus a lariat, but I like the look of the FX4 more. I think the big difference is the FX4 has a skid plate, I think a little more rugged suspension. Anyway, I love mine!!!

According to Ford, it adds off-road tuned shocks, skid plates, and limited slip axle to the xlt. Also adds dark grey colored wheel lip mouldings and 18" machined cast aluminum wheels. Plus it sounds cool.

i love my fx4. plus its extra bragging rights.

supposed to be the best offroad package offered from any dealer. comes with offroad tuned suspension and skid plates. i don't know if this was stock or not but all of my bushings are urethane, not rubber or plastic

You also get the gauge package-much nicer then some of the base trucks.

On the first FX4's, it was an additional package that added skid plates, all terrian tires and different shocks. Now it still includes those items, but it is a trim package all to itself like XLT or Lariat. On the older trucks, it was a package that was added on to an XLT or Lariat.

What Wandell said and you can get colors i dont think you can get on other trucks like bright red, yellow, dark blue, and various two-tone mixtures.

One thing I like is that my FX4 has the shifter on the floor, as opposed to on the coloum. My friends have a 05, and a 06 both with the shifter on the coloum.

i agree with everyone. except, you can get a limited slip diff with an XLT. they sell some with that option...mine came with it.

what i like about the FX4's is the floor shifter. looks a little more classy i guess. but, without it, i can fit a 6th passenger...so i guess its not too bad.

the black sport leather interior! the different wheels, body color bumpers, H-bar grille, and all the other stuff that the previous posts list contributing to the sweetness

I think your truck looks kickass. It looks more like a street machine than an offroader.
