Quick Question (Body Lift)

I have a 96 f150 XL Short bed single cab and im not looking for the huge 8 inch or 7inch lifts and I seen body lift kits that are 3" (about what im looking for) for 80-120$... What's pros/cons with them and where can I go to get them installed... Do they break/wear?

The postives of a body lift are they are inexpensive and don't affect your ride. The only negative I know of is you are limited to only 3 inches of lift. I'm on my third truck with a Performance Accessories body lift and don't hesitate to recommend them.

I've always installed mine. I'd try any 4x4 accessory shops in your area or a body shop. They are not hard to install, but they take a while. I've seen installation quotes form $100 all the way up to $800 ($300 to $500 seems to be average).

ya PA body lifts are some of the best around and to get them installed when i looked around was about 500, mostly because of the time. You can do it yourself easily, it just takes time. there are many threads giving tips. They dont wear out that i heard of and work great, just look at pics of trucks with them on it look at mine.

Me and a few friends just installed a 3" PA body lift on my 2000 f150. The biggest problem was getting the bed bolts out. The install itself takes time, especially because you want to do it right. I probably would have paid $500 for an install but I couldn't find a quote that low locally. Your 96 can't that bad if you want to tackle it yourself, you should have a buddy or 2 though, the job will go alot quicker. The only tools I didn't have was a torx bit for the bedbolts, didn't matter though because we had to cut them off anyway with a grinder. Save yourself the time and do the same for yours. You shouldn't need to reuse them, longer ones should be supplied. Other than that, make sure you have a solid set of larger drill bits that can get through the bed, bumper and frame. You'll figure the rest out. Good Luck.
