How to lift my truck

Ok i have a 02 F-150 4x4 with the FX4 package on it. I have heard you can do a cheap lift by adjusting the torsion bars. One how excatly do you do that and two how high will it take it so i know how tall of a lift block i need to get for the rear? thanks

It depends on your truck, as each one is adjusted differently from the factory. You can usually get 1 to 2 inches of lift by cranking up by cranking up the torsion bars. Look under your truck and find the long bar that runs from your lower a-arm back under the cab. This is the torsion bar. THe adjustment nut is at the end. Just crank up each bolt (there is a torsion bar on each side) an equal number of turns and get an alignment after you get the height you want.

well cranking up the torsion bar may give u 2in or so from there u could add the 2in block or just leave the rear stock to level ur truck out should be able to fit 33's with triming

Is it possible to reverse this process for lowering? I heard that I could have all types of allignment problems if I mess with the torsion bars though so that has my concern.

Yes, you can also lower the truck an inch or so by backing off the preload. Anytime you adjust the ride height, the alignment is affected.
