body lift question

I was under the cab today getting familiar with everything so I'll know what to do this weekend when I install my lift. I went through all the cab and bed bolts and sprayed them down with oil. When I got to the very last set of cab bolts (i have an extended cab) they seemed to be tucked under there pretty good. I was wondering if this was an issue for anyone? I couldn't even get a good look at them because of the gastank and other things in the way, so how would I get a wrench or channel locks on the bushings, or will I even need to? Any input is appreciated, im just trying to make the install as smooth as possible.

I'm not familar with a Supercab, but on the Expidetions there were a couple of bolts that I accessed through a hole in the frame.

if i not mistaken i believe to remove the rear cab bolts should only have to rip out the cab rear carpeting and i think there is a nut welded to the frame so should be able to do it from car as far a the gas tank im not sure

yeah i think he's right you may just be able to get the bolt out from the top after you lift up the carpet, same thing with the bolts in the bed I THINK. the nuts should be held in place so you should even worry about them. remember that you have to have the right TORX head to remove the bolts in the bed. If you have any more questions let me know i've done several body lifts including one on my old 01' f150 single cab so its similar to your install

Thanks guys,

I installed the lift last weekend without any problem. The bolts came out with ease and the lower bushings stayed in place so I didn't have to worry about them.

centfl150, i've been wanting to do a 3" body lift on my truck for awhile now. It's a 97 2wd xcab. How hard was it? I don't have alot of experience with these sorts of things. I don't mind buying the jacks and bits but am I going to tackle something that is just out of my league. I love the idea of spending $160 on the kit but not the $400 for my local shop to install it. Are there any pointers you can give me. Let me know what you think

i did one on my 2000 2wd, and it was easy. the best thing i can tell you is when you get the kit read the instructions really well. make sure you understand them. after you read them and think you can't do it, then take it some where. this really helped me alot when i did it. the whole process isn't hard just very time consuming. i am not trying to scare you away from doing it, i am just saying what might make it easier for you. just get a couple of buddies to help you out.

Definitely read through the directions several times. I searched this forum to see what needed to be done and what problems that I could possibly encounter which helped because I knew what to do if the problem did occur.

All my cab and bed bolts came out easily which (some say) is the hardest part. A good set of tools is nice to have and a helping hand. I also recommend that you allow yourself plenty of time because you never know what problems could come up.
