285/75R18s on my stock STX

Hi, I just bought a used set of 2004 Lariat wheels with 285/75R18 tires on them. ($350) local sale.

I want to mount them to my stock STX 4X4(look at my sig), will they work with my stock ride height?

It looks like it wont be a problem but I figured I’d come here just to be safe?

Also, should I have a tire shop put them on? Or do you think they are already balanced? They have the little led weights on them already and they wer installed on an 04 Lariat for about 10,000 miles.

If those are stock tires from a Lariat, they are 275/65R18. If the number you listed (285/75R18) is correct, no you can't put them on without at least a leveling kit. Those are 35" tires. If that second number is 65, whether the first is 275 or 285, yes they will fit, especially if OE wheels.
As far as getting them balanced, do it. With 10k they are probably due or overdue to be balanced anyway.

Crap! Well thanks for the heads up. Im 95% sure they said 75 though. My stock tires are 70, 65 seems to be going down in size. ( I know nothing about tires ratios) i thought that 325s constituted a 35" tire though?

It may seem to be going down, but the width is higher and the wheel is an 18", not 17".
To learn what the size means, go here.

Ok Yea, you were right. I had the numbers wrong.

The real numbers are:

Stock
255/70/R17

New ones
285/65/R18

So the 285s there not stock tires? Weird, the guy told me they were but im not sure he really new much about this stuff (like me).

Any way the tires are defiantly BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO 285/65R18, about 10000 miles on them. They have a good bit of tread left.

Do you guys think I got a pretty fair deal on these?

I have those tires on my Lariat 4x4 and they fit fine with no leveling kit. If your truck is a 4x2 you may have some rubbing issues. They are a 33 inch (32.8 actually) tire and look great on a stock truck. That is a great price for the tires and the wheels.

Yes, stock would have been 275/65R18 if OE. And unfortunately, I have never seen BFG AT's stock from the factory. Wish they did, but have never seen them. And you shouldn't have any problem with the size.
