4wd vs 2wd shocks

Are the shocks that come on a 2006 4wd different from the 2wd shocks??? Can I switch shocks for a softer ride on my 2006 4wd????

The front coilovers are different. The rear shocks on a 4x2 are probably a little shorter than a 4x4's.
