If I'm not mistaken body lifts also stress connecting components like wires and tubes and stuff.

No, all of those issues are addressed in a body lift. Also, the only way you gain ground clearance under your axles is to install taller tires. In other words the differentials on a truck with the OEM tires and wheels is the same as a truck with the OEM tires and a 6 inch suspension lift.
A suspension lift gives you more WHEEL TRAVEL. Both lifts give you the ability to install larger tires.
And as mentioned, the only way to gain extra ground clearance in to install larger tires, or possibly change your axle/differential setup. But that last part is an expensive job.
