suspension vibration...fyi

just wanted to post a little FYI for everyone with a 04-06 f150...

i have about 580 miles on my 06 f150 screw fx4, and i have been noticing that the truck vibrates, or shimmys at the higher speeds. i thought it was just my imagination, but my wifes accord at 95 mph does not even come close to what my truck does at 55-60 on the same road.

this being said, i scheduled an appointment to my local ford auto center, and they will be ordering a damper kit to resolve this. they said that there is no guarantee that this will work, but there are other options that can be done (they need to do this one first before going on to plan b).

the best part is that it is still covered under warranty. another good thing is that i did not do any modifications to the suspension yet...think i will hold of until all these things are taken care of

so if any of you got the shimmys in your truck, have your dealer take a look at it and mention the dampers. i have an appointment to fix this on sep 18, so i'll let you all know if it makes a difference

Been through all that Damper install, 2 balance trips of all wheels, still was not fixed. I just added 2-40 lb bags of cheap dirt in the bed , best thing so far to help smooth it out. Now has 32,000 on it.My vibration was at 50-55 mph. I can live with it now,,,,good luck

I asked a dealer about the same thing. They said they had a service bulletin about it and that they would do something called "Road Force" it. What is Road Force and did it help anyone's vibration. Mine vibrates at 65 to 75 mph.

I forgot. The dealer also said that they thought the problem was due to flat spotting of the tires while the trucks sat on the lot and that the vibration should go away after I drove 1000 miles. So far I think I have the same vibration and I have 1600 miles.

The only thing that has been done is the 2'' blocks on the rear axle have been removed to drop the rear some . Looks better to. Ford Road Forced my tires to twice, didn't help. I notice it road smooth one day when I picked up some 6 or 8 bags of mulch. I just got tired of Ford not fixing the problem. I guess they just sold to many the trucks, would cost to much to fix all of them. Ford siad it was just a to well of a built truck, I really like it to ,,,
