steering wheel . . .

steering wheel . . .

i have a 97 f150 with 165k on it. down in the steering wheel housing it has started making a grinding noise. i think a bearing has gone bad. looking for help on how to repair/replace bearing. how to remove steering wheel without damage (or inflating) to airbag. i was told it maybe easier to replace the whole column (?). any help either way would be a big bonus.
thanks

Everybody is scared of the d*** steering wheel because of the airbags...forget about them...unhook the battery, turn on your headlights (this is to drain all power from everything) and let it sit for about 10 mins....then go to work finding the problem and fixing it..._motes
