Question Want to lower my 4x4 -- NOOB ALERT

I want to lower my 4x4, but I have don't have a clue when it comes to suspension stuff. Check my sig for my truck. It has the offroad package which I don't know if that makes a difference.

The tires I have are the stock 265/70R17s. I don't want any bigger tires. So, how do I go about lowering this thing. I don't want to slam it or anything.

Maybe like 2 in the front and 3 inches in the rear?? Any advice, information is very appreciated.

Why are you lowering a four wheel drive truck?

Because the most off-roading my truck gets is when I pull into the driveway.

I got 4x4 so I don't have to worry about being stuck in snow or whatever. The offroad package was just there...
I got stuck a few times with my old 4x2 truck. But I dont do any off-roading. Mike Troyer and Marc Carpenter both have lowered 4x4s. I guess I will just ask them.

I'm no expert, but just to start in the right direction... I have read on here some where that you can remove the factory block in the rear over top your axle and that it's fine to do so. I think the 4x2's come with out a block so if you remove it you will be at the stock 4x2 height. If you want to go lower then that I have heard of drop shackles or something of that nature? I'm not too sure about the front, hopefully someone else will chime in.

Sorry about this

I hate to be negative here but, am I alone in thinking this is tantimount to going to the doctor and requesting an inch or two being removed from your manhood? Maybe it's just me, but lowering a 4X4 would be about the most uncool thing I can imagine doing to a truck. Not trying to be a **** but that's my $.02.

Why dont you check this thread.

I didn't buy a truck to show off my manhood. What kind of a man are you? I bought my truck and my previous 2 trucks because I like trucks. This is the first 4x4 I have ever owned. What difference does it make if you lower a 4x4 or a 4x2. Just because it says 4x4 on the side you have to have 35" tires and a 6" lift??? My previous trucks were modded to go fast(faster) on the street. I NEVER OFFROAD. I got a 4x4 because I didn't like getting stuck 4 times in the snow with my previous 4x2 truck, and 1 time in the mud with my first 4x2 truck.

Reasons for lowering truck:
Better Handling
More fun to drive(see above)
Better MPG

i've lowered my truck(I was bored atg school one day and said hey, lets drop this bitch) pull the rear blocks out(as long as you don't do any very heavy towing, because the lift block is the bump stop if you've ever bottomed it out which i doubt) and run the torsion bar adjustments out til it sits where you want it.mine sat lower than my buddies 2wd in the front and the same in the rear.i did it i was bored everybody asked me the same thing, but hey its your truck do what you want.i wouldn't want to lower mine again but i do alot of off-roading so it makes sense for me to have mine up in the air.you will definitely want to get it alligned after this though

4x4 lowered truck=pus*y truck- Trucks are ment to be lifted. To tow. To go off-roading with. To haul 4wheelers and dirtbikes. They are not ment to be lowered.

To those who dont need to use their truck to compensate for their small d1cks...

If I just wanted to level out my truck could I just remove the blocks in the rear? Will this change the handling at all? Thanks for any serious feedback.
