trailer leveling or air bags?

I pull a 14 foot trailer with my 98 F150 and even trying to load the trailer correctly, the rear of the truck sags pretty good. Any thoughts or opinions on using a trailer leveling system compared to putting on helper springs or air bags? The hitch costs just a little more but it won't affect the truck when I am not towing the trailer like springs might. I like the idea of air bags, you can adjust them as you need too. Just wanted some experienced opinions on the subject. Thanks for the help.

With a high tongue weight, the key is getting it to distribute the weight to the front of the truck, not simply beefing up the rear suspension to take the load. I'd be all for the weight-distributing hitch. There's no better way to do it.

That being said, how much tongue weight is actually on the hitch? Might be time to weigh it....

I pull a 5500 lb travel trailer behind my 150 and I use the weight distributing hitch. It works great, and as you stated, when not pulling the trailer, the truck uses a stock suspension. I'd go with the hitch idea.

Sounds unanimous for the hitch. Makes the most sense I think. Thats the only time i have a problem is when the trailer is hooked up to it. With the number of bikes I have to haul, the weight on the tongue can't be helped. Two Harleys over the axles and a smaller bike in the front vee of the trailer with two dirt bikes in the bed of the truck. Pretty good load for the tiny V-8.
Thanks for the input guys.
