Angry Skyjacker Vs. Fabtech

So the 6 inch kit for the 05 F-150 4x4, which one is better, Skyjacker or Fabtech. I mostly hear Fabtech is better. But i also heard this about Fabtech "Your front wheels will stick out an inch on each side, you'll need to modify and rebalance your front driveshaft due to vibration on 4HI."

I like skyjacker due to the skid plate option, and maintains front traction and also they send replacement springs for the front.can't say much for their customer service. Fabtech is a good kit but does not have a skid plate option it will stick out your wheels about an inch (like a prerunner) the driveshaft will have to be modified and rebalanced also you use your factory springs or pay an additional amount for their coilovers. Most importantly will be who does the install. Like on all the other threads about lifts, some claim fabtech, others will claim pro comp and some like rancho. Whatever you decide, quality installation and support will be the most important part of getting a lift. IMO(in my opinion) and how much you are willing to spend. I have not heard any bad things from Rancho or Skyjacker but have read a few concerns with pro comp and fabtech. Not to say that the first two are flawless; that's what I have been searching for in the forums. Good luck

Take the parts to a body shop and have them painted before the install. Whatever color you like.I don't think it would be much.

Fab Tech is a better lift all the way around vs Sky Junker Their lifts for trucks, jeeps etc are far stronger and built better than Sky Junker. You all ready named on of the problems they have and that is the Big Red Candle Stick look. Why would you paint them. It will just flake off and you'll see red again. It cost me about 100 to have my drive shaft balanced in the front. You will notice more Tire Sticking out from the size of the tire vs the 1 of the lift. I put Flared fenders on mine and it looks fine. To each their own but my money is Fab Tech

But i also like sky jackers because it comes with whole new front scoil's and add-a-leaf's for the back and option of new springs for the rear.

If you are only driving on the street (and if you really do have a neon light kit, then we all know the answer to that), then go cheap and go Skyjacker. If you want to take your truck off road and have it perform better (though you may break your pretty little neon lights) then go with Fabtech.

Jeeps&Fords jsut shuit up, its a matter of taste, and i like the neon and yes i will be off roading and if i do break them so be it. And its also a matter of show, for say um, car shows i attend. I hate ignorant people like you who jsut cause you dont like something means its bad for everyone else who does like it. Have a nice day and find something better to do then flame peoples threads.

Bigtruck311 - is that a Fabtech 6" on your truck? Just curious.

Don't misunderstand this, but the picture you have posted looks like there is no articulation going on. Is it the angle, or is that back tire hanging a few inches and 18" off the ground? I'm curious because the Fabtechs I've played with seemed to articulate well - I didn't like their on road manners as I thought they felt "soft" in corners which is great off road, but not so nice on road or hauling a load.

Not trying to say good or bad about Fabtech kit, just really curious about the kit and articulation.

yes it is a fabtech kit, i have traction bars that might not let it articulate to full but it seems to articulate the same even before i added the traction bars but that is about all the articulation shes got in the rear, the fabtech kit has never let me down, here is another pic with rear articulation

I can point you in the direction of a guy who can answer that, he runs a 4x4 shop here in atlanta. He drives an 04 chevy dually with a fabtech kit that is lifted I don't know how many inches but its effing high! He sells both, and could probably educate you on which to go with.
