diffirence

this is a really stupid ? but oh well what is the major diffrence between the 96 f-150 and the 97 f-150 besides the body style i can find a 9 in sus lift for a 96' 150 for like 600$ but the 97' 150 cost 1400 for a 4 in lift this has bothered me for a while

96 was the old body style and it used the Twin I Beam front suspension. IN 97 that was a whole new truck, including the suspension. It uses independent front suspension. 96 & older are cheap to lift, they were somewhat like a cross of solid axle and independent suspension. Prices skyrocket when you lift independent.

Right along with the body, the suspension and engines along with everything else is different. The 97-03's used double a-arms with coil springs (4x2's) and torsion bar suspensions (4x4).
