the reason is because it actually is supposed to ride level but it doesn't seem to work that way. the front of the truck is already 2 inches lower the the rear from the factory.so the lift is really 6 inches in the front but comes with a 4 inch block, but the springs tend to sag a bit more so you have to use an add aleaf. if you look at any lift they say how much lift is in the rear and it is always lower than the front. you have to ask to make your truck level when you have the lift installed.

Killed me to get rid of the ol red rocket but I had to do the practicle thing. I only drove that truck on sunny days... which ment I had to have another car (explorer) for rainy days and snow. I'm to young (28) to be spending that much money on two car payments. So it basically just boiled down to me liking to have money in my bank account. But I do miss her... she was alot of fun

reply to the level of your truck

fabtech makes a true 6" lift for our 97-03 f150 front and rear. You cant measure the top of the wheel wells like that the front will always be higher than the rear that is the way the trucks are designed. they might have tightend the torsion bars when they did the install and thats why it might way out of wack but like other peeps have said you can easly lift the rear of your truck to gain the extra hight in the back only. put a 2" add a leaf or sumthin because u cant use blocks beacause of how the fabtech kit works. happy trails man i hope this helps.

derek 97 f150 ext/sbox 6" fabtech lift, 3" body, 2" blocks in rear, cranked torsion bars front, 38.5x15x20

That looks amazing. I wanna convince my father to lift his 05 F150, but chances are he won't, so I'll have the only lifted truck in the family.
