Who has changed their 2wd front springs?? Help..

Going to change my front springs tomorrow and have a question.

I have never changed front springs before..(I hate to work on suspensions)

My question is What do I need to do tho change them?

Is there any short cuts?

Do I have to take the brakes apart? or can I just remove the shock, Install the spring compressor, compress the spring, remove the ballstud nut, ect..

I know there is a few more things to remove, Is that the basics?

Just looking for some tips, or even directions In case I get in a bind

I would like to get away with not taking apart the brakes if I don't need to.

Thanks for any help.

Geo

Sorry, I have only changed them in a 83 Bonneville. It was easy though.

Remove tires, allow suspension to completely drop but support w/ a jack. Disconnect tie rod and sway bar. Attach a safety chain to springs. Disconnect lower ball joints/control arm. Now when the jack is lowered lower control arm will swing down and away allowing you to remove the spring( You must 1st remove shock, its a gimme but wanna make sure your aware). As far as removing the brakes remove the 2 caliper bolts and swing it out of the way. Should be like 2 hours or less for both sides.

Thanks! It was just as I thought.. I just worry around springs. But on the first spring I did not have to worry to much Thanks again!

Ps...How the hell do you know what end is the top and what is the bottom??

Both ends look the same, but one end does have different color paint marks on it....\
