'03 steering feedback

Guys, I have a '03 FX4 with only 17,000 miles on it. At slow speeds (40mph or slower) I feel like a loose rattle/clunking in the steering wheel. Other than the 3/4" play in the lower steering shaft everything feels good. I read one forum that said something about greasing the lowershaft. Does anyone have this issue or a fix? This is the only issue I dont like about this truck. THANKS.........

first off welcome to the forum. second if it's still under warranty i wouldn't miss around with it i'd take it back and have the dealer make it right. sounds like something is loose and could cause a major failure/accident.

Rotate tires and see if you still feel it in steering wheel.
