FX4 "Rancho" Shocks?

Ok, I may have made a mistake. I needed to replace my stock shocks on my 99 ORP SC so I went on eBay. I found a set of Rancho Shocks that were off a FX4 that supposedly have less than 100 miles on them. I won them for a fair price ($135.00) but now I read these really are not Rancho shocks and are just stock shocks painted to look like Ranchos. Is this true and how can they do that? I have already kicked myself for not researching here first.

If you look at the shock you will see a Motorcraft stamp. These were shocks that Ford and Rancho made for the F 150. I replaced mine at 27,000 miles. They got real bouncy. If you look at the shock boot it is not secured to the shock with a zip tie, creating a water tight seal. The stock shock has the boot just sitting there for looks. I went with the Monroe Sensamatics for $200. Use the search button at the top. There is alot on this...

Yep, just some shocks Rancho made to Ford's specs. Nothing like the Rancho aftermarket lines.

You could always re-ebay them. For $155, you can get 4 RSX's from Sam's Offroad.

As one who's owned a number of ORP and / or FX4 package trucks (including a '99 ORP), I can tell you that the factory "Rancho" shock are just not the same as "real" Rancho's. When I swapped out the factory shocks on my '02 FX4 for a set of Rancho RS 4000's, the difference in ride and handling was unbelievable. By the way, that swap happened at 24,000 miles too.

I'm just agreeing with everyone here. The stock "Rancho's" (yep, there Ranchos made for Ford) ride like a floor jack. Go get some aftermarket Rancho's, you will be glad you did.
