Lift/wheel question

I'm going to be lifting my 04 F150. The truck is my daily driver so I don't want to void my factory warrenty... besides, I have a serious wheeling rig already. I just want a bit more clearance and a better look to the truck. I was thinking about a front leveling kit and an add a leaf in the rear... that should give me about 2" front and back and allow me to fit 33"s. The truck has a 5.4 so regearing shouldn't be an issue. Any suggestions on tires... or criticisms on the lift idea (be gentle).

Sounds like a good plan. If your truck is a 4x4, you could fit 35x12.50's with that combo if you use the stock wheels. However, if that is as tall as you plan on going, 33's would be great.

Does BF goodrich make 33x12.5R17's? I've seen them 33x12.5R16.5 and 35x12.5R17, but not the size I'm looking for.

I think you'd have to get the 285/75 version.

Not for 17" wheels.

BFG makes a 285/70-17 which works out to be a 33x11.50-17. I know the **** Cepek Radial FC II, Mickey Thompsom Baja Radial MTX, and Pro Comp tires are available in 33x12.50-17.

gears

While you will definately have the power to push the 33 inch tires, I'm pretty sure your stock tires werent 31's. Anytime you go more than 2 inches in tires size its a good idea to re-gear otherwise you cause undue wear and tear on your engine and transmission, trust me can and eventually will cause things to wear out early and stuff can get real expensive i found out the hard way.

Odds are his stock tires were 32's (265/70-17).

255/70R17 actually... when I measured them, they taped out at 30ish x 10.5ish (not sure of the exact measurements on them).

I think I may go with the 285's... but I'm not dead set on BFG's either... I've had good luck with them in the past. I may look into the procomp AT's. Is anybody running them... and if so, how do you like them?
